My name is Duncan Smith, I grew up in Zimbabwe (southern Africa) and immigrated to the US (Georgia specifically) in 2002 at the age of 13. I studied Industrial Engineering and work in corporate quality at the moment. I am a gamer, technology enthusiast, and lover of 3D modeling and 3D printing.
I started 3D printing in 2014 with a Robo 3D R1 and upgraded to a Lulzbot Taz 5 in 2015. I learned 3D modeling somewhat in university but mostly on my own via tutorials and just modeling as much as I could. I started learning Autodesk 123D design and then moved onto Fusion 360 which is my current modeling platform. Over the last 3 years I have learned so much and continue to do so either in my monthly builds or my own designs. Part of my goal for the website is to learn through teaching.
Why Adylinn? This name is a family business name that I thought would be great to continue – there is a lot of legacy behind it which is why I chose it.
My plan at the beginning of this year was to create a website hopefully to make a little extra income on the side but also to publish monthly builds utilizing 3D printing. The perception most have of 3D printing is silly little brightly colored knick-knacks that don’t really have any real world value. I wanted to change that perception by creating some cool projects that challenged that stereotype.
I have a lot of great plans for this site, continued monthly builds, adding a mix of free and premium designs to the shop, new guides and tutorials as well as whatever else I can manage to do!.
This site is for you, if you have any suggestions at all, please reach out – I’d love to hear from you.
